After six months planning, the military exercise “CJSE 12” was held with a great commitment and help from several of Basalt AB´s consultants. The epicenter of the exercise was held at the Command and Control Regiment in Enköping, but interlinked to both the Air Combat Training School in Uppsala and the Naval warfare center in Karlskrona.
The distributed system platform used by the training audience is called “SWECCIS”. SWECCIS is a well-tuned, thoroughly tested Microsoft Windows environment with a large suite of functional area specific applications and military standard security (up to “HEMLIG/SECRET”) including computer hardware and data communication.
CJSE stands for ”Combined Joint Staff Exercise” where 1000 staff members from the Army, Air Force and Navy does joint staff exercises in fictional scenarios with goals as action/reaction and cooperation. Even though the majority of the participants come from the Swedish School of defense, there are participants from 22 different countries including Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland and USA.
During the planning and exercise, Basalt AB coordinated the majority of the technical solution for the whole exercise – both hardware and software. The positive feedback for the SWECCIS system and for Basalt AB as main contractor for the exercise was not held back as it was named the exercise with the fewest helpdesk issues ever.
